Initially Al Mercato of McMaster University wanted to replace just one of the plaques to the entrance of the University Club/Alumni Hall building, putting the University Club name up versus the initial name of the Faculty Club. Instead, we provided them with a competitive quote to switch both their plaques, thus refreshing the appearance of their main entrance. The old Faculty Club Plaque was hung inside the building with a small commemorative plaque describing the change in name back in 1967.
The original plaques were mounted in a somewhat difficult manner-on two walls and at an angle. They were mounted in such a way that it would have been difficult to mount new plaques to the old hardware. We designed the new plaques to be mounted in a vertical manner thus fitting all the necessary text, and being able to mount both of the new plaques on a flat surface avoiding the use of old hardware.
